I Have Some Soccer Or (football) Questions I Would Like To Know Before Starting My Job Coaching A Team?
I just got a job of coaching soccer or (football) and have some questions to ask so I am clear on the rules before I start. Whats the differen betwwen a winger and a right of left midfielder or are they considered the same positions?
During a free kick at goal what is the distance that the wall has to stay from the kicker? Any other info would also help. Thanks.
RIght where do I start.
WIngers or far right midfielders or left ones tend to make serching runs down the wings or bilines of the pitch in the hope to cross the ball deep to a forward in the box of the goal area,, or drill the ball hard and low or pull the ball back hopefully pulling defenders out and into the box therefore leaving attacking players free to recieve the crossed ball in the attempt to score
ALWAYS CALL IT FOOTBALL
real fans never call it that S word
it’s 10 yards for a free kick
contact me on my yahoo for any questions that you have
I played all my life and nearly made it pro when i was young
as a midfielf player
left of right midfield can over lap with the left and right backs creating deep runs into the oppostion corners, they also support each other, if the right back makes the run, the right midfield player can drop inside, or deeper into the middle of the pitch to recieve the ball
erm if you can watch any premiership action via YOUTUB, (ENGLISH LEAGUE) you will see a lot of searching balls being passed with the right weight
if your learning to be a coach, I would personall concertrate on passing, with the right weight ie that the pace of the ball isnt too fast tto control or too slow that the player being passed to has to come and collect it
dribbling techniques, nothing flashy but the basics of round cones
controlling a ball with the body
passing the ball short long and other passes, with the inside of the foot (best control) outside casing curl, or with the top of the foot which is power,
As well, balance is key so young players need to understand the center of gravity when passing a ball if they lean back the ball goes up if you lean forward the ball goes nowhere
there is no such thing as A PLAY
teach players to form triagles onthe pitch and pass between them, this is noticable if you watch any PREMIERSHIP football on YOUTUBE
and anything else contact me

The wall must stay 10 yards(9.15 metres) from the kicker at a free kick.

all the answers given are correct but if youre going to coach you should reallly try and get a coaching badge from the fa and you will have better knowledge for your job about the game and coaching techniques. they have a really good internet site too. or get in touch with your local club or county football associations.

12 yards is the distance for a freekick from the ball to the wall.
The winger and right/left midfielder is in a 442 you would use wingers to cross the ball ie get in deep positions these are fast players like ronaldo, lennon, giggs and other such players, left or right midfilders would be players such as beckam, gerrard, players who do not really take on players but have the ability to make runs in to the box and are also excellent crossers of the ball.

I have to ask…you dont know the basic rules and yet you’ve found someone prepared to offer you a job as a coach???! Its not the English FA by any chance?
Can you introduce me to these people…i’d like a job as a doctor. Dont know much about medicine, but hey, I can ask as I go along…

I think the wall is 10 feet, maybe 12. The Refs should know and will tell you that. Wingers I believe are the offensive players, then comes the mid-fielders, then defense. I’ve never heard that term before, but I think thats what it would be.

A winger mainly attacks and defends closely to the sideline. Some characteristics of a winger is speed, good passer, and someone that knows when to make a run to open space. while a right/left midfielder concentrates more on taking control of the midfield.
And the distance between the ball and the wall is 9.15 meters.

Well done on getting the job.
Now you really need to do some research, get on the internet and watch as much FOOTBALL as you can. I’m sure there are also lots of coaching websites out there.
Then find yourself an English Premiership team to follow (I suggest LIVERPOOL) and watch them fanatically, even if it means subscribing to the expensive sports channels and staying up till 5 in the morning. You’ll soon pick up all the rules and tactics.
Good luck

Firstly the wall has to be ten yards from the position of the ball. In the traditional 4-3-3 formation you have 4 defenders (and goalkeeper behing the back 4), 3 midfielders (1 right, 1 left and 1 middle) and 3 forwards (again 1 right, 1 left and 1 middle). The forwards are traditionally called right wing, left wing and centre forward. But with managers changing formations the midfield and forwards can be interchangeable.
For more info on formations and coaching try the web site of the football association. http://www.fa.com (I think)

A recent change to the rules means the wall stays at least 10 metres away from the free kick + or – 8 metres. If the free kicker is handsome the wall may advance close-up to him (two within 2 metres) to look at his handsomness. If the freekicker is ugly they may retreat from him up to eight more metres. This is so they can comment on his ugliness without offending him.
The handsomness of each player is decieded by a group of ladies (and some gays) at the start of the season. No player may have a haircut during the season that might change his net handsomness.

they are the same positions, although wingers in the modern game are a lot more defensive apart from exceptional players like ronaldo, ronaldinho, messi.the wall has to be 10 yards away.

a winger can also be a right or left forward when you play with three forwards. when in a free kick the wall has to be 9-10 feet away.

Dude, are you qualified to coach a football team???
The wall should be 10 yards away!
Surprised you don’t want to know about the off side rule…
by eli on October 23, 2009 at 3:37 pm.
they are most likely considered the same position. and the ref will require the player to be 10 yards away from the kicker. u should also find some goalie tips for ur new team.

Distance between the wall and kicker is 9,15 metters … in teory.
A inger is not the same as right/left middle.
Considering a typycal 3-4-3 formation (3 defenders, 4 middles and 3 forwards):
—————- Goalkeeper —————-
RightDefender — Central defender — LeftDefender
RightWinger — RighMidfielder — LeftMidfielder — LeftWinger
—– RightForward– CentralForw — LeftForward

A winger is anyone who runs up and down the sides of the field. A winger is the same as a right or left mid. The wall on a free kick has to be 10 yards away from the ball.

ummm shouldn’t YOU be telling us that if your the COACH!!!??? no offense just wondering!!!
by jaybubba on October 29, 2009 at 4:07 am.
a winger and a right mid are the same position, but wen ppl refer to the term “winger” there strategy of scoring is by taking it down the wings (sides of the field) with the “wingers” and letting them cross it into the center so the team can score!!! they are the same position but one is a strategic term. wen there is a in/direct free kick, it is 10 yards away, be sure to remember that if u are taking the kick..if the ref hasnt already moved the wall back, ask for ten yards, unless u hav a player with great accuracy with there kick, you can take a quick freekick caatching the team off guard!! taht is very effective, just like how Manchester United beat Lille in champions league with gigg’s fast freekick. tho there was alot of argument, giggs didnt aske for ten yards so he was allowed to take the kick whenever. if you ask for ten and the ref has to porperly measure it, you have to wait for the whistle!! a lttle tip of extra info….its offside, not offsides!!! no plural…thats not really important…but it is!
