It seems the top spots in the polls have been up for grabs over the past few weeks. As women’s collegiate soccer heads into the post-season, one thing is for certain: nothing is guaranteed. No one is a lock for the 2000 NCAA championship title. Currently, the Fighting Irish of Notre Dame hold the top spot with Washington, Nebraska, Clemson, and North Carolina rounding out the top five. Yes, the Tarheels dropped to number five after an upset loss to Florida State. So, let’s look at these top teams as they go into the post-season.

 	Notre Dame

The Fighting Irish completed another undefeated season after handing Michigan a 5-1 loss. Notre Dame ended with a 17-0-1 record and this was the third undefeated season in the program’s 13-year history. The team ended on a high note with its victory over the Wolverines because they had well-rounded scoring. Senior Monica Gonzalez scored her first goal of the 2000 season during her first start at forward. Anne Makinen, the outstanding senior midfielder, was credited with the assist. Set plays, especially corner kicks, proved successful for the Fighting Irish once again. Meotis Erikson, a senior forward, drilled a ball in front of the net on a corner kick and junior midfielder Mia Sarkesian connected with a header to send the ball into the near post for her third goal of the season. Freshman standout and midfielder Randi Scheller posted two goals in the Notre Dame win. Fellow freshman Amanda Guertin and sophomore midfielder Ashley Dryer assisted Scheller on her goals. Another freshman, Amy Warner, tallied the fifth goal with an assist from senior midfielder Caroline Marino. The strong scoring effort and solid defense from Notre Dame will boost the team’s confidence as they look ahead to Sunday’s Big East quarterfinal match against Miami.

Notre Dame topped off Mid-Atlantic Division play with another undefeated season. They are now 54-2-2 all-time in regular season Big East play. Before the tie with the UConn Huskies, the Irish had won 25 games versus Big East opponents. This tie with 25th ranked UConn came because the Irish could not capitalize on their scoring opportunities, a rarity for Notre Dame. The win against Michigan proved the Irish truly do have a number of scoring threats.

The Irish have a shot at the title once again this year. The experience of the seniors will need to compensate for the inexperience of the talented freshman. Notre Dame will need more well-rounded scoring and solid defensive play. Goalkeeper Liz Wagner has been consistent in the net and stepped up this season to fill the shoes of outstanding keeper LaKeysia Beene. Despite their strengths, the Irish will face some formidable challenges on their quest for the title in December, but could bring home the championship to South Bend.

 	Washington

Washington is on its way to solidifying its first-ever Pac-10 title. After an exciting 1-0 victory over conference rival UCLA, the Huskies will face Oregon and Oregon State to wrap up regular season play. Record-setting senior Tami Bennett scored the most memorable goal of her steller career against the Bruins. The goal came against a solid opponent in the 7th ranked Bruins and extends Bennett’s career goals to 32. The win, in front of a school-record crowd of 3,403, extended the Huskies winning streak to nine and kept Washington’s conference record unblemished. Also, this win extends the Huskies record against ranked opponents to 7-1. Their only loss came against top ranked Notre Dame.

Goalkeeper Hope Solo has been the rock of the Husky defense. She notched her fifth shutout in the win over UCLA. Solo is an All-American candidate and has two international caps for the U.S. Women’s National Team. She was also one of the four keepers in the training camp pool for the 2000 Olympic team. Solo has also found herself into the Washington record book. She currently ranks third in career saves and she’s only a sophomore.

The Huskies take on Oregon State on Friday. Washington holds a 8-1 overall record against the Beavers including winning the last six games. Later on Sunday, Washington faces Oregon to end regular season play. The Huskies have won all four matches against the Ducks. Although Washington has faced some tough ranked opponents in Santa Clara and UCLA, the Huskies will need to step it up to compete against the solid Big East and ACC teams in the tournament.

Nebraska The Huskers have captured the Big 12 title and will wrap up their regular season on Friday against Iowa State. On Sunday, Nebraska clinched the conference title with a 4-1 win over Texas Tech. This win extended the Huskers conference record to 8-1-0 and a 17-1-0 overall record. Freshman standout Lindsey Greenwood had the first multiple-goal game of her career. Sophomore Christine Latham posted a goal and two assists in the win. Latham kept her position as the conference’s leading scorer with 43 goals and she ranks fifth in career goals in the Nebraska record book. The Huskers can boast another conference leader in senior goalkeeper Karina LeBlanc. She leads the Big 12 with a goals-against average of .43, and she is one of 15 candidates for the coveted Hermann Trophy. Other Huskers to earn honors were Greenwood, who was named the Big 12 Newcomer of the Week, and sophomore back Breanna Boyd earned Defender of the Week honors. Nebraska has been successful in Big 12 conference play but will certainly face challenges from teams in the Pac-10, Big East and ACC as they enter the post-season. In order to be successful, they’ll need strong play up front and an All-American performance from LeBlanc in the net.

 	Clemson

There’s a first time for everything. The Clemson Tigers have clinched the ACC title. Yes, this correct and it’s not a typo. The Tigers beat out the dynasty of the North Carolina Tarheels to earn its first-ever conference title. Clemson ended its regular season with a 0-0 tie against North Carolina State. Goalkeeper Katie Carson recorded her third straight shutout. The Tigers end with a 5-1-1 conference record and they will be the top ranked team in the ACC tournament. Clemson takes on Florida on Friday to begin the post-season. Despite North Carolina’s drop in the rankings, they have proven to be tough when the post-season hits. Carson will need to be almost flawless in the net and the Tigers will need solid performances from freshman Lindsay Browne and sophomore Deliah Arrington. Tanya Peterson, Tatum Clowney and Alison Sinclair have been contributors all season and will need to continue their great play in the tournament.

 	North Carolina

It’s rare to see a number other than one in front of the North Carolina name in the rankings. The Tarheels have had a roller coaster season, suffering two losses against Florida State and ACC rival Clemson. North Carolina did not capture the ACC title this year which has not happened in a while. The North Carolina Dynasty has been seriously challenged this season, and the ten Tarheel seniors are looking to overcome their fifth place ranking and go for another NCAA title.

The Tarheels face Wake Forest and Maryland this weekend as they wrap up their regular season. North Carolina does not lack the talent or leadership. They’ve simply lost two tough games. Kristin DePlatchett and Jenni Branam have been solid in the net and North Carolina can boast one of the top front lines in the country. Senior Meredith Florance has been leading the nation in scoring and has been one of the most consistent performers for the Tarheels. Sophomores Kim Patrick and Susan Bush have added to the scoring power up front. Junior Jena Kluegel has been the anchor in the midfield and will be essential if the Tarheels want to defend their national championship. The one key for Dorrance and his Tarheel squad will be experience. The ten seniors provide a lot of leadership and they will carry the freshman. The strong sophomore class had the experience of winning last year’s national title and strongly contributed to the wins throughout the season last year. North Carolina will first need to get past a tough group of opponents in the ACC tournament including Clemson.

Like the rankings, the national title is up for grabs and the 2000 post-season will be exciting and truly competitve.

A List of the Highest Paid Football Players in the NFL

Sports Articles | November 27, 2009

This article provides information about how players of the NFL are able to make millions of dollars per year. What follows is a list of players and their salaries, a discussion about NFL player salaries including how they are able to sign multi-million dollar contracts, and finally NFL salary implications for both players and fans.

The main questions is, why do NFL players get paid millions of dollars per year? To answer this question, you need to understand the concepts of revenue stream within the NFL, and the term “salary cap”.

The salary cap is the amount of money an NFL team can spend on salaries for their players per year. The salary cap, imposed by the NFL commission, has progressively increased year by year since its inception back in 1994.

In essence the NFL salary cap, as negotiated by the players Union in the current collective bargaining agreement, is 62.24% of all football related revenue divided by 32 teams. For the 2009 season that figure is 128 million dollars. This means that each team has 128 million dollars it can spend on player salaries per year. But, as indicated by the data shown below, this salary cap continues to grow from year to year. Revenue mainly comes from ticket sales.

The following shows the steady increase in salary cap since 1999:

Salary Cap Per Team for NFL Player Salaries by Year

2008 $116 million

2007 $109 million

2006 $102 million

2005 $85.5 million

2004 $80.5 million

2003 $75 million

2002 $71 million

2001 $67.5 million

2000 $62.2 million

1999 $58.4 million

As the salary cap increases, so does the salary of players. The real question is how is the money distributed to players. There is a type of salary distribution model that teams use which is not known to the general public. Lets look at a list of the highest paid NFL players for 2008.

The following table tells it all:

TOP 20 HIGHEST PAID PLAYERS IN 2008

1. QB Ben Roethlisberger, Pittsburgh $ 27,701,920

2. DE Jared Allen, Minnesota $ 21,119,256

3. WR Larry Fitzgerald, Arizona $ 17,103,480

4. QB JaMarcus Russell, Oakland $ 16,872,400

5. RB Michael Turner, Atlanta $ 16,003,840

6. G Chris Snee, N.Y. Giants $ 14,890,000

7. CB Asante Samuel, Philadelphia $ 14,145,000

8. WR Randy Moss, New England $ 14,006,720

9. T Flozell Adams, Dallas $ 14,005,760

10 .DT Tommy Kelly, Oakland $ 13,978,480

11. WR Terrell Owens, Dallas $ 13,731,560

12. WR Bernard Berrian, Minnesota $ 13,705,000

13. T Michael Roos, Tennessee $ 13,505,520

14. C Jeff Faine, Tampa Bay $ 13,105,760

15. DE Will Smith, New Orleans $ 12,950,000

16. QB Tony Romo, Dallas $ 12,886,600

17. G Travelle Wharton, Carolina $ 12,850,000

18. DE Antwan Odom, Cincinnati $ 12,800,000

19. CB Terence Newman, Dallas $ 12,611,240

20. RB Marion Barber, Dallas $ 12,522,400

Lets examine the concept of salary in the NFL a little more closely. As previously stated, how teams pay their players and the value they place on them is known by only a few, including the player agent. It is interesting to note that having high salary players does not necessarily mean success to the team.

A case in point. One of the most successful NFL teams over the past ten years has been the New England Patriots. Yet only one player from the Patriots is in the top 20 for 2008. That is wide receiver Randy Moss. Yet Oakland, over the past ten years, which has two players in the top 20, has not seen the success that the Patriots have had. As a mater of fact, they have not even come close.

Also, you can see five players from the Dallas Cowboys in the top 20 list for 2008, yet they have not been in the Super Bowl since 1995 (Super Bowl XXX). It appears that the New England Patriots like to spread their money around to their players, so that one or a few players do not get an enormous salary while the rest of the players make a fraction of that amount. Randy Moss may be an exception to this rule.

This team concept of salary distribution that the Patriots employ falls in line with the team concept they have set for their players when it comes to playing football. The Patriot’s organization believe that it requires a team effort to win football games, and not the superior effort of only a few players. Maybe that is one of the reasons the Patriots have been so successful over the past ten years. And lets not forget that the Patriots is one of the best managed teams in the NFL. Part of that management is proper salary distribution. Team owner Robert Kraft and head coach Bill Belichick seem to know what they are doing.

In any case, NFL player salaries continue to increase year by year. Today the lowest rookie makes a bare minimum of $285,000.00 (at least for 2007). In terms of all professional sports, the NFL players are the highest paid. This is why so many college players seek to get into the NFL. But it should also be remembered that the average length of a career for a player in the NFL is only 4 years. So obviously a player needs to make all he can during that short career. The question is are the players worth these very high salaries.

A persons salary is dependent on one major factor. That is how many other people can do the job they are doing? The fewer the number of people that can perform a particular job, the higher the salary. Not to many people can play in the NFL. Also, the players do deserve most of the revenue that is produced simply because, without the players, you would not have any business entity. And since fans are willing to pay the high ticket prices, then I would have to answer the question that yes, the players do deserve the salaries they receive.

Football is a form of entertainment, but it is a form of entertainment Americans can not do without. Even in the Roman period, people had a need to see the gladiators fight in the Colosseums. The Romans had to pay to see their gladiators fight to the death. Sometimes all the seats were free, if a rich person had given money to pay for the show. Other times, you had to pay, and it cost more money for the good seats than for the bad seats, so the poor people had to sit way up top in the Colosseum where it was hard to see. Today rich people do not pay for all the seats at a football game. But at least today, NFL teams do not fight to the death! The point is, Romans were willing to pay to see the gladiator form of competition. This willingness to pay to see competition has existed throughout the history of mankind.

The bottom line is, fans really seem to not care to much about the player salaries. They just like to watch their teams with the hope that their team will reach the Super Bowl, or in some cases, simply a winning season. So how do NFL players make millions of dollars per year. Simply put, fans are willing to pay high ticket prices to see their team play. And as long as the demand for tickets remains high<img src="http://www.articlesfactory.com/pic/x.gif" alt="Find Article" border="0", players will continue to enjoy a high income.

Liverpool Football Club is back in the hunt for title honors following their memorable win over long time rival Manchester United.

The Reds sealed their first win against Man United at Old Trafford since March of 1990 with a 1-0 win on Sunday to end a long drought and restore some pride in club competitiveness.

The 10-year drought ended with a sparkling defensive game, which although was un-Liverpool like, was what was needed to hold off a Manchester team that never looked like scoring when coming forward.

The only goal of the match was well finished by Danny Murphy from a 20 yard free kick, after home side player Gary Neville miss judged a long ball bringing it down with his arms.

Murphy is incidentally the first Englishman to score against Man United this season.

Liverpool now looks to this weeks match against fellow title chasers Arsenal at home.

The match at Anfield should have plenty of spice given that their first match at Highbury in August ended with three red cards, the home team prevailing 2-0.

Other Liverpool news include rumors that star forward Robbie Fowler looks to be on the Leeds wish list at about 10 million pounds. Fowler who is currently club captain has had a howler of a season so far playing few matches after his return from injury.

When the boys take the field on Saturday, no matter what the line-up, there is sure to be a spirited effort given they are currently 10 points adrift from the top spot, but on a high after that match on Sunday.

Liverpool, the most successful English club has not won a title in 10 years but maybe, just maybe this will be their year.

Steve McClaren has come a long way since he was introduced at a Manchester United news conference as “Steve McClaridge”. The England manager left Old Trafford last night flashing those expensive teeth and reflecting on a “perfect way” to usher in his term of office. Not even the sight of 30,000 empty seats could tarnish a 4-0 victory and McClaren could not disguise his sense of jubilation as he eulogised about his new-look team.

“We’ve set the standard and now we need some continuity,” he said. “That’s the key – sustaining this level of performance. The players have had to take on board a lot of information over the last three days and they have delivered a performance, especially in the first half, that we now need to sustain in every match.

“We attacked with pace, opened them up and, in possession, we looked like a team that was cohesive and worked together. We worked very, very hard, pressed the ball and controlled the game. That was the biggest thing – we controlled the game though our possession, our passing, our patience, our switching of play.

“We got the best out of the players and you could see they played with a bit of freedom. Once the first goal went in, you could see the fear leave them and the passing was excellent. Some of the individual performances were outstanding.”

McClaren had taken his seat almost unnoticed at the start of the game but, when he emerged for the second half, three minutes after the resumption, he was clapped to the dug-out. The public perception of him will undoubtedly have improved from such a resounding victory.

“I’m very proud,” he said. “I’m in a very privileged position and I’m extremely aware of that. I’ve been part of the set-up for some time but leading out the team is different. It’s exciting and challenging.”

Perhaps the biggest victory, he said, was demonstrating that England, under his regime, would not stroll through friendlies, an allegation that was frequently directed at the side under Sven-Göran Eriksson’s management.

“We said that we would take friendlies seriously before this game, that’s always been the message and the players did take it seriously. Even at half-time we were talking about making sure that we keep a clean sheet. The team wanted that clean sheet and they worked hard to get it.”

He identified Owen Hargreaves, the renascent Bayern Munich midfielder, for special acclaim. “Owen was phenomenal. He set the standard for others to follow, not just with his attitude but his whole performance. You could see that [Steven] Gerrard and [Frank] Lampard sought to follow that example.

“We won the game by dominating the midfield and quite a few other players epitomised that work ethic, too. The strikers were working all the way back and it sums up the performance that, right at the end of the game, [Peter] Crouch got in a tackle on the edge of his own box.”

Old Trafford’s underwhelming attendance – 45,864 – suggested that the McClaren era had failed to capture the public’s imagination but that was not how the new manager saw it. “People might be disappointed but that is probably the highest attendance we have ever had for an August friendly and it was probably the best crowd in Europe tonight.
An athlete moves across a field, trying to keep a ball away from a team of opponents. His own teammates move with him, heading toward the goal. As he scores, the crowd cheers.

This contest might be taking place this year, or 2,000 years before the birth of Christ. The game might be soccer, American football, rugby, or perhaps Episkyros, an ancient game played by the Greeks. In fact, it seems that people the world over have been playing similar games for thousands of years.

For example, according to an article on the Chinese website Shanghai Star, the ancient Chinese game of Cuju was developed over 2,300 years ago in Shandong province. This game was originally played with a leather bag filled with hair. Later, during the Tang dynasty, a hollow ball made of eight pieces of leather began to be used, along with two goals made of netting, making it very similar to modern soccer. In fact, in 2004 the Federation of International Football Associations declared that it was the origin of modern soccer.

The Greek game of Episkyros began around 2000 B.C.E. It was played using a ball made of linen and hair, which were wrapped in string and sewn together. Later, a follis or inflated ball began to be used. These were made from inflated pig bladders wrapped in leather or sponges wrapped in string and cloth. The website Expert Football (www.expertfootball.com) has a picture of a carved relief from the National Museum of Archeology in Athens showing an athlete balancing this type of ancient ball on his leg. In fact, according to this website, this is the image used on the European Cup trophy today.

People have always taken football seriously. In the many versions of the game played down through the ages, it was often viewed as military training. The teamwork and athleticism involved helped prepare the players for war. The shame suffered today by a losing team is nothing compared to the consequences to the losing team in the ancient Aztec game of Tlachtli. It seems that this game was sacred to the Aztecs, with deep religious overtones. It was played in virtually every major city of the ancient Aztec world, often in a walled court near a temple. It was a mixture of volleyball, basketball, and football, with the players moving a hard rubber ball toward a goal without using their hands or allowing it to touch the ground. Spectators would place large bets on the outcome, but not as large as the players, since the losers were sacrificed to the gods.

Violence has also been a part of the game in Europe from the early days. According to the website Soccer Training Info (www.soccer-training-info.com) the modern game of soccer is Anglo-Saxon in origin and was first played using the severed head of a Danish prince as the ball. It was played at that time with very few rules and an unlimited number of players.

According to All Soccer Info, football became more organized in 1863 when two football associations went their separate ways (association football and rugby football). The popularity of football spread slowly, but because of the influence of the British Empire, eventually football (the soccer version) was to spread to virtually every country of the world. Other forms of football, such as rugby and American football, have still not spread very far, but are immensely popular in some countries.

So while you may never have heard of the ancient games of Cuju, Episkyros, and Tlachtli, they live on in the modern games being played today.

Soccer is a reverberant game that plays somewhat similar to a symphony. The various soccer field positions determine the course that the symphony is going to take, and it slowly builds up from the back of the field. As the rhythm steadily gathers momentum, you see the best artists show glimpses of what they are capable of. An entire move travels back and forth between the players as the tempo and the intensity rises and falls, just like music, and eventually creeping forward, the orchestra culminates into a reverie of high pitches and solo leads and darting runs and then, it eventually creeps back to the loop from which it began.

The soccer field is the stage and the 11 soccer players on each side are the members of this symphony, and just like any other creative and artistic venture that requires everyone to be on the same page, soccer field positions give each player a predetermined task to do. These tasks vary in nature and some are found to be the bearers of more glamorous things like scoring the goals and taking all the plaudits, whereas some players must do the dirty work, the so called ‘water carrying’, but without each of these vital components, the machine will simply fail.

Soccer positions have evolved many times over the last century, as strategies and tactics have constantly changed. Wherever there are fixed systems in place, there will always be a ‘counter system’ to try and negate the effects and balance the scales. Soccer is all about gaining the upper hand, and there is no better way to do that than to deploy the best personnel for the most suitable job on the pitch. Everyone has a job to do, and let’s now look at the various soccer positions and what they do in detail.

Soccer Field Positions
Every team is divided into 3 portions – namely the defense, the midfield and the attack. Each portion has its duties and each member has a specific role to play. The defense blocks the other team from scoring, the attack attempts to score, and the midfield does a little bit of both, and serves as the link between the rest two.

Goalkeeper
Also known as the shot stopper, the goalkeeper stands between the goal posts and uses his hands to attempt to keep the ball out of the back of the net. The goalkeeper often cuts a lonely figure in each match and spends large portions looking bored and doing nothing, but he has to be on his toes when the ball arrives or he will be chastised for the smallest of mistakes. He cannot use his hands outside the penalty box area, and almost all attacks begin from the hands of a goalie. His primary task though, is to stop the ball from entering the net by using any means possible. His importance is unmatched, but out of all the soccer positions in the field, his is probably the most undermined.

Central Defenders
What would a goalkeeper do without a good set of defenders in front of him. An incompetent defender would leave the poor goalie cruelly exposed. By using hook or crook and a lot of muscle, his task is to push the opposition attackers off the ball and stop their attacks. Modern day formations usually employ 4 defenders, and the 2 central ones are the most important out of all the positions in soccer. They need to be large and burly and aggressive by nature, and also work in tandem with each other. These are the heart of the defense, and without proper central defenders, any team would suffer.

Wingbacks
On the outside of the central defenders, are the wingbacks. They must help the central defenders out whenever and however they can, they must stop the oppositions wide players from advancing, and they must help out in their teams attacks as well, by providing the necessary width. All the best teams today need quality wingbacks in order to win games, and the modern day game has evolved these soccer field positions into something more, than they ever imagined they would be.

Central Midfielders
In the middle of the park lies the engine room of every team. The central midfield is the place where a game is truly won and lost. These players tussle with the central midfielders of the other team and whoever comes out on top, effectively wins the game. Running from box to box, these guys help out the defense, provide the spark in the attack and ultimately, determine the outcome of any game.

Employing 4 midfielders is the norm these days, and out of the 2 central midfielders, one is defensive and the other is offensive in nature. The defensive one acts as the midfield anchor, the ‘water carrier’ and screens the defense. The attack minded one surges forward and picks out great balls to every other player. He is the creator in chief, the playmaker, and it is his quality to control the ball and make excellent passes that determines a teams attacking impetus.

Wingers
The wingers occupy crucial attacking soccer field positions, and they are stationed on the outside of the central midfielders. They are the flying wingers, and they need to possess great ball control and dribbling skills. A soccer field is very wide and utilizing this width is the key to winning a game. The playmaker opens up the oppositions defense by alternating balls between both the wings, and this really stretches the defense and makes the other team work harder to win the ball back.

The various positions in soccer perform a myriad of tasks, and no one highlights this better than the wingers. They must run at the oppositions wingbacks, they must cross the ball into the center for the strikers, they must cut inside and shoot at goal themselves, they must also track back opposition players when they get past, and they must do all this with style and panache.

Striker
Each attack needs a spearhead, an out and out striker, who will trouble the last line of defense and score goals from under the noses of the defending players. These are the real fox-in-the-boxes, the clinical finishers, who can receive a pass, get their teammates into the move, turn the defender who is marking him, and then accurately place the ball in the back of the net. It goes without saying that they need to be fast, and they must also be aware of their teammates positions at all times. Soccer field positions would be incomplete without a mention to these headline grabbing, goal banging target men, who provide the entire team with someone to aim at.

Deep Lying Striker
Behind every out and out striker, is a slightly withdrawn striker. There is always a bit of space between a team’s defense and midfield, and this area is known as ‘the hole’. The second striker operates here and causes havoc wherever he goes. He is usually given a free license to roam and can drift into any of the attacking positions mentioned. Since he performs so many tasks, he is usually the most talented player in the team. Soccer field positions cannot work in sync without a classic ‘number 10′ playing behind the striker and striking fear in the hearts of the opposition.

Soccer Strategies and Tactics
The contribution of each and every individual, who occupies the soccer field positions, is crucial to the success of a team. All the players need to be on the same wavelength and should be doing that task which they are best at. A team needs to work like a well oiled machine, and unless all the parts are in sync, the machine will fall flat. Use this information to realize what soccer position you could be the best at.
If you are in college, you probably want to become famous in one way or another. Alright, so you are athletic enough and have been playing hockey for quite a while.
It is always best to admit that you are yet a hockey rookie. And so, the more that you should focus on sharpening your skills. It will give you a wonderful feeling to know that your teammates are rendering their all out support for a newbie like you. As a beginner, here are a couple of tips that you can work on.

Take time to observe your team members as they hit the rink for the rehearsals. By properly observing their moves, you are certain to pick up techniques and strategies that you may apply on yourself as well.

Don’t get inside the rink to play if you are not yet prepared. Hockey is a game of smartness and precision and your team doesn’t have a need for someone who is absentminded or one who doesn’t know what to do. You might just end up being hurt because your teammates are moving so fast in their attempt to score.

Because you are still harnessing your hockey skills, you can try on scoring some goals and trying some assists for a start. If you can’t aim that precisely, you can always try standing in front of the net while the puck is on the offensive part of the ice. This gives you the chance for rebounds.

You have to understand that every player in your team’s goal is to make a score. Therefore, you should all work together to be able to attain those desired points.

Ice hockey is a very challenging game so you have to be really up for it. Your ice skating skills will help you a lot because they are all you need to keep moving in the rink.

The Game Power Plays

In whatever sport you play, chances are you will get a penalty if you take on offensive moves. That is the prime reason as to why your knowledge about the power plays in this game plays a crucial role.

The following are the most common power plays that teams often make use of:

Behind the Net. Playing just behind the net exposes the player to the advantage of seeing the entire ice rink surface. You will be able to get a good look at every single hole on the side of the defense and determine to which player you should pass the puck to.

Playing at the Point. This is a style used to pass the puck to the other defenders on the blue line. The puck is then shot directly in front of the net.

Simple Triangle. This is the most basic power play and often used by the younger team members. The strategy allows the easy movement of the puck as well as more passes.

Always remember these significant insights so you can better enjoy your stay in the hockey academy sport team.
