Great goal. Soccer isn’t an American word, it’s British like “rugger” is. There are lots of diff types of football (ie rugby is really called “rugby football”), and only the Cambridge Uni/Harrow school game forbade the use of hands. It was taken up by the fledging FA in in 1863, and followers of Rugby School’s handling game broke away to form the Rugby Union. American football comes from rugby football – so there’s no problem in them calling it “soccer”.
